Dolls are inherently creepy. They stare unblinkingly into the void, yet seem to peer into our very souls. Did her eyes just move? Did her lids just flutter? Is there something more to this doll than porcelain and stuffing? Is there an awareness?

I love to take a doll that has been thrown out, given away or discarded and make them into something else. I feel like I am resurrecting the doll and making her/him into what they were always meant to be. Depending on the dolls’ needs, I may recreate clothes, wigs, eyes, faces. I reimagine their back stories and it becomes part of the process. Every doll is painstakingly imagined and crafted.

I think everyone needs to have a creepy doll in their life. It reminds us that we are all a work in progress. We are all becoming who we are meant to be.
